Homestead Rescue: Intervention is a 2026 docu-series on Discovery Channel, a high stakes spin-off of the network’s flagship Homestead Rescue. Wilderness experts Marty and Matt Raney, along with Misty Bilodeau, respond to secret pleas from the family, friends and neighbors of struggling off-gridders who are too proud to ask for help themselves. The Raneys arrive unannounced and put each homesteader in front of a choice: accept a professional rescue, or keep heading down a path toward losing everything.

Despite the large built-in audience of the flagship series, this casting was built entirely from scratch. The homesteaders had no idea they were being set up for an intervention, let alone that the Raney family was behind it, so we could not reveal any connection to Homestead Rescue during outreach or vetting.

We also ran the process against a tight and shifting clock, tracking crisis level, season and location across homesteads all over the country to work out where and when each rescue could realistically be filmed.
